JCC Brooklyn Windsor Terrace Preschool Program focuses on children’s development in a warm, loving, play-based environment. For those just beginning school, we support the transition to separate happily from favorite people (you!) and develop trusting relationships with teachers. We love our littlest littles and keep them giggling and smiling. We send pictures daily, and keep lines of communication open – there is no question too small about your child!

At JCC Brooklyn Windsor Terrace, our classrooms are loving and thoughtfully designed spaces for children. Our children are encouraged to try new activities, meet new friends and satisfy their curiosity by learning about the world around them. We believe that our work is to support children to be the best that they can be and foster a love of learning. Preschool lays the foundation for lifelong learning and that is why we create curriculum based on the children’s interests all while helping them reach key developmental milestones. We use play, song, books and activities to introduce children to early academic concepts such as counting, patterning, rhyming and reading.

Since children learn and evolve at what seems like lightning speed, we make sure to document their work every day so that you can see the progress your child is making firsthand. You’ll be seeing the stimulating and fun projects that we work on when your children bring them home to you. We create folders for the kids and take many photos during the day so that you can glimpse the fun that we are having learning, playing, and exploring.

Twos’ & Threes’ Rooms

When you walk into our Twos’ and Threes’ classrooms, you will see children actively engaged in various centers, including painting, playing in the sensory table, engaging in dramatic play, building with blocks, reading in our library, or singing songs at circle time. The main work of a Two-Year-Old is to become comfortable with school routines, make friends, learn about sharing, become part of the classroom community, and try new activities. For our Three-Year-Olds, additional emphasis is placed on a math curriculum consisting of patterning, counting, and sorting. They also engage in science activities where children are encouraged to ask questions and have an opportunity to explore cause and effect through hands-on learning. Through story-time, we aim to foster children’s love of reading and introduce them to early literacy skills such as rhyming and reading comprehension through group discussion. Our play-based curriculum introduces children to early academic studies through art, song, movement, and stories.

FREE 3K Program for Children Born in 2023

Free 3K is a free program fully funded by the NYC Dept. of Education. Our highly experienced and skilled teachers offer children an outstanding and enriched learning experience in accordance with Common Core standards. Kosher snacks are served daily, including for children who remain for extended hours.

Need a translator? Options are available for the following languages: English, Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, and more, by phone at 718-935-2009, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Translators are available in over 200 languages.

Full Day Program Hours: 8:30 am to 2:50 pm

Option for Extended Hours:

• 8:00 am to 8:30 am – $2,225 per school year
• 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm – $4,350 per school year

At JCC Brooklyn- Windsor Terrace, we have an outdoor playground where the children engage in cooperative games and free play. Prospect Park is only a block away and we take advantage of it by going on nature walks, having fun at the playground, enjoying being by the lake and learning about the many plants, birds, and animals that share our world with us.

For inclement weather days, we have an indoor gym where the children engage in cooperative games. They can play basketball, ride scooters, walk on balance beams, climb through tunnels, practice yoga and dancing, and play hopscotch. It is very important that children at our school have physical activity every day.
